CASTING CALL
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for our upcoming stage play called “Cycles”! We are currently in search of those willing to be a part of our stage play and are casting for multiple roles (lead, supporting, understudies and swing actors). The play is slated to take place on Saturday, October 18th and Sunday, October 19th, 2025 at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts. 15200 Annapolis Rd, Bowie, MD 20715.
About the play
This is a stage play about a family that needs to come to terms with past family mistakes and misunderstandings to be able to move forward and begin a new legacy in their family. It also highlights the importance of family and the value of “family”. This play is a faith-based dramedy.

Here are the roles we are auditioning for:
MARY
MARY is the first black female attorney to ever make partner in the history of a prestigious law firm in her state. She speaks eloquently, she’s confident & successful. However, she is harboring a dark secret of abandonment trauma & unforgiveness towards a very close member of her family. MARY is one of the lead characters in the play. She is approximately 30-38 years old.
CALIPTUS
CALIPTUS is self-employed. He currently doesn’t have any employee that works for him, but he aspires to expand his business. He is divorced and takes care of his young daughter and his sick mother, they both live with him. CALIPTUS is one of the supporting characters. He is a black male between the ages of approximately 35-40 years old
JOHN
JOHN is a retired cruise ship manager. He is battling through a chronic illness that plagues him throughout the play. He is well traveled and is a man that tells many interesting stories. He is on a journey to break the “Cycles” that have transpired through multiple generations in his family. JOHN is one of the lead characters. He is a black male and a father to two daughters and one grandson. He is between the ages of approximately 60-65 years old.
Mr. Brown
MR BROWN is a violent and unhappy man. His family is completely afraid of him. He is a supporting character. MR BROWN is approximately 42 years old.
david
DAVID is approximately 10 years old. He is in a single parent household. DAVID lives with his mother and his father is absent in his life. He has a sarcastic sense of humor. He is a student in school and he is one of the supporting characters.
Dr. SAM OPARA
DR SAM OPARA is a medical doctor that has reconnected with his friend that he hadn’t seen in many years. DR SAM OPARA has information that could completely destroy his friend’s family dynamics if revealed. DR SAM OPARA is one of the supporting characters. He is a black male approximately 60-65 years old.
john jr.
JOHN JR. was very close to his senior brother, DANIEL. He looked up to him as a role model & aspires to be like him. He is a black male. JOHN JR. is a supporting character and is approximately 12-14 years old.
daniel
DANIEL is a role model to his younger brother. He is very protective of his brother and is willing to make major sacrifices to protect his brother’s interest. His father is very abusive. He is a black male. DANIEL is a supporting character and he is approximately 16 years old.
SAM JR.
SAM JR. was a young boy that dreamed of being a medical doctor. His best friend grew up in a physical & verbal abusive household. He is a black male. SAM JR. is a supporting character and he is approximately 12-14 years old.

REHEARSALS & SCHEDULING
Play rehearsals are expected to hold from the second week of July through October 19th, 2025. Expect the play rehearsals to take place on some weekdays in the evenings and occasionally on the weekends (if needed). A more detailed schedule will be provided.
Compensation: Cast members will be compensated and pay details will be provided.
